Charles & Potomac Capital, LLC (C&P) Announces Leadership Changes

I am pleased to announce the promotion of Phil Rehkemper from CFO to President, and the addition of Katherine “Kit” Popolo as Portfolio Manager. Prior to joining C&P, Phil was the Chief Financial Officer at Freeman, a leader in the live event brand marketing industry. As CFO, he led the global Finance, Accounting, Tax, Treasury, and Real Estate functions.

Previously, Phil held CFO roles at Sensity Sytems and API Technologies and was on the management team for International Rectifier as its Vice President of Finance, was CFO. and Vice President of Finance at Alliance Fiber Optic Products, and was the Corporate Controller at Calient Networks. Phil also provided financial leadership for Hewlett-Packard, where he was the Controller for Network Server Division, which experienced significant growth during his tenure.

Kit Popolo, upon completion of her MBA at Columbia Business School this spring, will be joining the team at C&P Capital to manage investment activities and relationships, reporting to Phil. Kit has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Boston College’s Carroll School of Management and previously worked in management consulting at KPMG. Kit is a member of the Value Investing Program at CBS and held internships in buy-side equity research for a multi-family office and large investment manager. We are excited for Kit to join C&P full-time and see all that we can accomplish together.

During the quarter, I will transition out of my management role at C&P, but remain an investor. As C&P enters its second decade, I am grateful to be able to promote a capable leader like Phil to President. Having grown up in a family business household and having run one, I am excited to add Kit’s intelligence and process orientation to C&P as it becomes a multigenerational family-owned and operated company.
